JL

Biography

JL is a financial assistant for an international mission agency whose purpose is to bring unreached and unengaged people groups to know Christ. Her region oversees the work of 150 ministry workers in the north region of Africa, stretching across the top of Africa from Mauritania to the Horn.

She is a member of Providence Baptist Church of Lecanto, Florida, which is also her sending church. The Lord converted her in 2010 and healed her then-broken marriage, after which she and her late husband served together in Uganda, Tanzania, and Mali from 2012 to 2018. JL has three adult children and one grandchild. Her husband of 36 years went to be with his Savior in 2022. A renewed call to the ministry was received and JL responded, as was her late husband’s desire. JL remarried in December of 2025 and was called to a new full-time ministry to care for her aging mother, together with her new husband, in Florida. The agency has allowed her to move from a full-time to part-time position and change her role to accommodate this new responsibility.

JL has a Master of Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and is a past business executive and owner, having started several small businesses with her late husband. The Lord has used her experiences and gifts in administration, which she uses to serve with joy. Her passion is to see Christ known and magnified among all African peoples and to encourage brothers and sisters in Christ to respond to the call for more workers to participate in the harvest.

The region of North Africa that JL supports is made up of predominantly Muslim people who have little to no Gospel witness among them. Most of the countries in this region are closed to Christian witness. After a one- to two-year process of learning language and culture, Gospel workers must establish themselves in businesses or as workers in hospitals, universities, or other establishments. The conditions are difficult and dark, but workers go there because this is where they have been called.
