Overview
Emmanuel Bible Church exists to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ. We are a gospel-centered, Christ-exalting church committed to shepherding our covenant community and proclaiming the Word of God. We are seeking a mature, godly Teaching Pastor who will partner with the existing elder team and staff to preach, teach, and lead in shepherding the church, equipping the people of God, and advancing the mission of the church.
Role & Responsibilities
- Preach and teach expositional, gospel-centered sermons in our Sunday worship setting.
- Shepherd and care for the congregation: visit members and prospective members (hospital, nursing home, in-home visits), counsel, baptize, and minister to those in need of spiritual care.
- Lead, coordinate and encourage teaching ministries (Sunday School, discipleship, shepherding groups) to raise up mature disciples of Jesus Christ.
- Work alongside the other elders and deacons to develop and implement vision and strategy for the churchโs ongoing health and growth.
- Participate as an elder and member of staff, providing oversight and support to staff and lay ministry teams while being actively involved in the life of the church (worship services, church events, membership classes, congregational communication).
- Demonstrate godly character and leadership by example: devoting time to prayer, Scripture study, personal spiritual growth, and modeling Christ-likeness in word and deed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Be a mature believer with a clear testimony of salvation in Jesus Christ and exemplary Christian character meeting the scriptural qualifications of an elder (1 Timothy 3:1โ7 and Titus 1:5โ9).
- Have relevant ministry experience โ preferably 10-15 yrs of experience as a pastor/teaching pastor.
- A warm, relational pastoral style that builds trusting relationships across generations.
- Have a sound theological foundation and strong commitment to the authority, inerrancy, sufficiency, and centrality of Scripture.
- Possess proven ability in teaching and preaching the Bible, with giftedness in exposition, application, and shepherding.
- Demonstrate a heart for discipleship, pastoral care, and equipping the saints for ministry.
- Be committed to the distinctives of Emmanuel Bible Church (its beliefs, mission, and covenant community).
- Be able to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and work collegially with the other elders, deacons, staff, and ministry teams.
- MDiv or equivalent from an evangelical seminary degree required.
Preferred Attributes
- Ability to cast vision for growth and development of the next generation of believers and families.
- Experience in leading or supporting ministries to children, youth, and family discipleship.
- Pastoral gifting in counseling, weddings, funerals, and other life-event ministries.
Compensation & Benefits
We hold highly the preaching of God’s word and seek to generously compensate for that which we treasure commensurate with experience and qualifications.ย Total compensation package includes salary, pay-time off, health care allowance, professional development, and other benefits consistent with the churchโs resources and the needs of the pastorโs family.
