Alejandro (Alex) & Liya Torres

Alejandro Torres, originally from Monterrey, Mexico, is married to Liya, originally from Donetsk, Ukraine. The Lord guided Liya from a young age, as she and her family attended a Baptist Church in Ukraine. God saved Liya at the age of 15 and since then she has served the local church. Alex heard the Gospel of Christ for the first time at the age of 19; he is currently 31 years old. At his conversion, the Lord also called him to the ministry, and from then on with a very strong conviction, he dedicated himself to studying theology. He changed cities to Guadalajara, Mexico, where by God’s providence he was growing in his love for the local church and Reformed theological training. After 4 years, God used a missionary from Grace Community Church, who invited him to prepare to study at The Master’s Seminary by receiving a full scholarship for the program (M.Div.).

Alex graduated from The Master’s Seminary (M.Div.) in 2022 and is currently pursuing another Master’s Degree in Historical Theology at CTB Seminary, which has accreditation at Grand Rapids Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. Alex was a member of the Reformed Baptist Church of Riverside, CA (RBCR). During his final year of seminary and pastoral training, Alex also served as an interim pastor at (RBCR) and Sovereign Grace Reformed Baptist Church of Ontario, CA in Spanish. At the recommendation of RBCR, Alex was approved as an RBNet-endorsed missionary. RBCR and HeartCry commissioned Alex to Malaga, Spain in 2023, where Alex now serves as Interim Pastor at Iglesia Bautista de la Gracia (Grace Baptist Church) supporting the elders and especially Senior Pastor Martin Rizley (with a focus on planting new biblical churches). Currently, also, Alex teaches classes online at CTB (Centros Teológicos Bautistas), the Seminary that supports theological education for LATAM and the Spanish-speaking world.

Alex Torres works as a pastor internship in Malaga, Spain, at the church Iglesia Bautista de la Gracia in 3 categories:
a). Preaching the Word of God; b). Evangelism; c). Discipleship and Counseling.
