Chaplain, (Lieutenant Colonel) Seth E. Curtis and Angela Curtis

 

Chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) Seth E. Curtis received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Alabama in 2004 where he also commissioned as a Second Lieutenant after successfully completing the ROTC program. After commissioning, he served on Active Duty as a Field Artillery Officer with the 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division and was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from June 2006 to September 2007. Upon entering the Chaplain Candidate Program in 2009, he was released from Active Duty and began attending Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. He received his Master of Divinity in Christian Ministry in December 2o13 and accessioned as a U.S. Army Reserve Chaplain in August 2014. In this capacity, Chaplain Curtis has served as a Family Life Chaplain, a Brigade Chaplain, and now serves as the Deputy Command Chaplain at the Army Reserve Aviation Command (ARAC) at Fort Knox, KY.

As the ARAC Deputy Command Chaplain, Chaplain Curtis assists in the planning, coordination, and oversight of all religious support activities across a unit consisting of 2 Brigades and 8 Battalions located in 13 states. In addition to providing direct religious support to the Soldiers and Families of Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, Chaplain Curtis provides ministry of presence, training, mentorship, and guidance to 10 subordinate Unit Ministry Teams. He also works closely with the U.S. Army Reserve Command (USARC) Chaplain Directorate and 4 Readiness Divisions to recruit new Chaplains to the ARAC and to ensure they remain on track with their civilian and professional military education requirements. Chaplain Curtis’s additional duties include leading regular chapel services, providing pastoral counseling, moral and ethical training and guidance, Suicide Prevention training, and facilitating Soldier Religious Accommodation requests. He also serves as an advisor to the ARAC Commanding General.

Chaplain Curtis also serves as a hospital staff chaplain. After successfully completing the Clinical Pastoral Education Program in 2016, he has served as a full-time hospital staff chaplain within two healthcare systems. In addition to actively rounding throughout the hospital ministering to patients, families, and staff, he responds to all emergency situations such as codes, traumas, and deaths bringing support, comfort, and peace to those struggling amidst difficult life circumstances. 

Chaplain Curtis is a native of Mobile, AL but currently resides in Columbus, OH with his wife Angela and son Nathan. He attends Jersey Reformed Baptist Church where he also serves as an elder intern.
