David Adams
Biography
David was born in Colombia to missionary parents Jim and Nancy Adams. His family moved back to the US, where Jim became the pastor of Cornerstone Church in Mesa, AZ, while staying closely involved with churches and mission work in Latin America. After graduating from college and working as a travelling project manager for a handful of years, David spent 6 months serving with youth in rural Perú. Interested in returning to live and serve in Latin America, in 2006 David moved to Medellín, Colombia for business school and to be a part of a local church.
After finishing the MBA program, David and Jim Adams made plans to take Tedd Tripp to several cities in Latin America to lead parenting conferences based on his book Shepherding a Child’s Heart. Alongside these conferences, David worked on publishing a Spanish translation of Shepherding a Child’s Heart and a children’s catechism. They released the books at the first conference in Colombia, where many people eagerly received the books, asking for more resources like these in Spanish. As they travelled, they heard this request repeated across Latin America. The Lord provided through the generosity of a ministry grant and David officially established Poiema Publicaciones, a publishing ministry with a heart to glorify God by bringing the treasure of the gospel and the richness of Reformed theology into the homes and lives of Spanish-speakers all over the world.
Against a backdrop of cultural Catholicism and the prosperity “gospel”, the Lord has worked through gospel-centered books in ways that no one could have imagined fifteen years ago. Through a network of book distributors, these books are reaching people in 20+ Spanish-speaking countries. David and the Poiema team travel to conferences throughout the Spanish-speaking world, sharing resources with pastors and church leaders and giving books away as the Lord provides funds. Poiema currently has the joy of stewarding 500+ gospel-centered titles.
David is married to Daniela, and they have one son, Kuyper, who was born in the summer of 2024.
